Fibromyalgia is chronic, widespread tenderness and pain throughout the whole body, especially the joints.

This pain can be mild or severe and is described as burning, sharp, aching pain that radiates through the body. It is also known to cause headaches, anxiety, depression, and fatigue.

There is no known cure for fibromyalgia; however studies show that chiropractic adjustments and physical rehabilitation can provide relief for the nervous system.

Fibromyalgia is a very complicated disorder characterized by a wide range of symptoms including:

  • Muscle tenderness/pain
  • Joint Pain
  • Sleep Disturbance
  • Fatigue
  • Cognitive Impairment (brain fog)
  • Depression
  • Headaches
  • Cramping (especially in lower abdomen)

Approximately one in fifty Americans, or between 3 and 6 million people in the US, are estimated to have fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is the second most common ailment affecting the musculoskeletal system following osteoarthritis. This diagnosis is not only one with limited answers, but also leaves you falling into a chronic state of increasing pain.

The symptoms of fibromyalgia are often widespread and unpredictable, and that typically leads to a lot of frustration for the individual suffering with it as well as their friends and family. There is no standard treatment plan that works for patients suffering with Fibromyalgia, which leads to a lot of misunderstanding about what options you have to live life without pain.

Fifty percent of Fibromyalgia sufferers struggle to perform daily activities, such as walking, doing dishes or cooking, and even bathing. These tasks become very difficult and sometimes impossible – leaving the person feeling hopeless, depressed and ultimately becoming less and less active.

One patient described her struggle with being able to do normal activities with her husband that never used to be an issue. She stated “When we go shopping, I have to sit down every chance I get because I hurt so badly. I feel like I am such a burden on him and that he is no longer able to walk and enjoy going to places because of me. Most of the time now I just stay at home.”

Our unique approach provides a full comprehensive look at how your entire musculoskeletal system is working and moving, not just isolating it to the trigger points of pain. Typically, Fibromyalgia patients find their pain to be all over, with no distinct pattern to the pain felt. By assessing your joints, muscles and alignment, we can find areas throughout the body that are taking on too much pressure or wear and tear.

We’ve found that this is the key to dealing with fibromyalgia. Discover and eliminate the areas of the body where what we call “pain cascades” originate from, and fibromyalgia activity is dramatically lessened and often eliminated.

After two and a half months of treatment, the patient mentioned previously came into the office with tears of happiness. “We were Christmas shopping at Tanger Outlets, and it was the first time in years that my husband couldn’t keep up with me!” She had seen such functional improvement, and reduction of pain, she was now able to not only do normal daily activities, but was now able to keep up with and beat her husband while out enjoying the town.

Every person with fibromyalgia is unique. No one deserves a lifetime of drugs and pain. Call us to reserve a free consultation where we’ll sit down and find out what we can do to help you get your life back on track.
