BodyFX Body Contouring | Many of us have areas of our bodies that we would like to improve: a tummy pouch from pregnancy, skin loosening under your chin, arms that aren’t as toned as you’d like. Many of us may have even considered having plastic surgery to correct these areas that diet and exercise alone just can’t fix. We might feel like surgery is our only option. However, in recent years new technology has emerged making correcting these problem areas easier and less complicated than ever before. At our offices, we now offer BodyFX body contouring. It is the only non-invasive body contouring treatment option that has been proven in peer-reviewed and published human studies to both permanently kill fat cells, contract the skin, and reduce the appearance of cellulite. It is the best treatment option for those of us who want firmer, tighter skin without the downtime, pain, and potential complications associated with surgery.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Your skilled aesthetician uses a hand-held device that applies localized radiofrequency heat and high-voltage, ultrashort (nanosecond) pulse electrical fields to the treatment area. The radiofrequency energy heats the fat cells causing apoptosis, or cell death. While each session in the office only lasts for an hour our two, fat cells continue to die over a period of 10 days to 2 weeks following each session. As the cells die and lose volume the surrounding skin also loses volume, providing improved contour and shape. The additional benefit to this contouring treatment is that the body will produce collagen and elastin in the treatment area, as part of the healing process, which tightens skin and reduces cellulite. No other non-invasive fat reduction technology on the market can produce all these results!

IS IT SAFE?

The handheld device constantly monitors your skin temperature while applying the radiofrequency energy and has safety controls that prevent damage to the outer layers of skin.  While this may sound scary or painful, fear not! Most clients experience feeling only warmth or mild, short-term discomfort. In a study of 25 patients, “All patients felt acceptable comfort at epidermal tissue temperatures of 43-44°C and the majority were able to tolerate 44°C” (Mulholland & Kreindel, 2012). Other side effects may include temporary redness, minor swelling, bruise like pain that heals in a few days.
